Jewellery care

Each Pearl Dungeon jewel is crafted from carefully selected ancient materials, combined with new elements.

To extend their lifespan, there are just a few rules to follow!

As a reminder, upcycled jewelry is made of these metals: Stainless steel, gold plated, brass, and in rare cases, 925 silver.

Materials

Stainless steel

Stainless steel requires almost no maintenance. As its name suggests, it is resistant to water and oxidation.

Silver steel does not change color over time. Gold-plated pieces are generally made of stainless steel covered with a thin layer of gold plating, so they require a little more attention.

Gold-plated

Gold plating is a thin layer of gold deposited on another metal.

Its lifespan mainly depends on how it is used. To preserve its shine for as long as possible, it is advisable to avoid repeated contact with perfume, household products, chlorine, or seawater!

Brass

Brass is a metal that I frequently use in my vintage creations. Over time, it can naturally acquire a patina through contact with air. This evolution is normal and is part of the metal's life.

Most of the brass stampings used in Pearl Dungeon jewelry are covered with fine gold plating (like gold plating, but thinner), to maintain the shine and delay oxidation!

925 Silver

I use a lot of antique brass pendants that I have silver-plated to achieve a silver finish!

925 silver is a durable metal that requires very little maintenance. :)

Over the years, it may tarnish slightly. In this case, a simple soft cloth or a special silver polishing cloth will restore its shine.

Some tips

To preserve your jewelry as long as possible:

• Avoid wearing them in the shower.

• Avoid sleeping with them on.

• Avoid contact with chlorine and household products.

• Store them away from humidity when you are not wearing them.

• Avoid significant impacts, especially if your jewelry contains vintage glass or crystal.

Cleaning

Cleaning once or twice a year is usually sufficient.

You can use lukewarm soapy water or a mild Marseille soap, then rinse and carefully dry the jewelry.

One last word

Pearl Dungeon jewelry is tougher than it looks. :)

An accidental splash or a forgotten shower now and then won't immediately condemn them!

But like any precious thing, they will appreciate a little attention and gentleness.

With a few simple cares, your jewelry can accompany you for many years. :)
